Homestead Soup Kitchen Receives Donation

The Homestead Soup Kitchen recently received a check for $1,000 from 1st National Bank of South Florida. The Soup Kitchen has been struggling to make ends meet, pay their bills and continue to feed the hungry of the community. Rising fuel and food cost continue to impact the service that the Kitchen provides to many people who would otherwise not have at least one hot meal a week.

The check was presented to Juanita Smith, President of the Soup Kitchen by Saundra Lange, Senior Vice-President, 1st National Bank and Cristina Machado, Customer Service Representative from the Krome Avenue office. They also delivered food along with the check. Last year, the Bank donated a computer, monitor and Internet access to help make operation of the Soup Kitchen easier and more efficient.

The Homestead Soup Kitchen is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12 noon until 1:30 pm. The Kitchen is always in need of volunteers to help serve food for just an hour and a half a day. Service clubs and other organizations are encouraged to call Ms. Smith at 305.245.7448 to help. 1st National Bank is accepting donations in the Homestead Soup Kitchen’s name at all of their locations. The Homestead Soup Kitchen is located at 105 S.W. 3rd Road in Homestead.
